Windmill.jpg

Countries people associate with windmills are of course the Netherlands, Spain and maybe Greece. But NOT Ireland.

However, there are windmills in Ireland. This one is in Blennerville at the beginning of the Dingle Peninsula.

He had lov'd for his love, for his country he died,
They were all that to life had entwin'd him,
Nor soon shall the tears of his country be dried,
Nor long will his love stay behind him.

Verse From She is Far From the Land by Thomas
Moore. It is said that it was written for Sarah
Curran who was the fiance of patriot Robert Emmet.

Blessing for protection
To Christ the seed,
To Christ the harvest;
To the barn of Christ
May we be brought.
To Christ of the sea,
To Christ of the fish:
In the nets of Christ
May we be brought.
From birth to age,
From age to death:
Your two arms, Christ,
About us safe.
